About

Hi! I'm Sarah Grace Lewellen, an artist based in Memphis, Tennessee. My work is primarily done in acrylic, with a focus on mountain and floral landscapes. I am inspired by the beauty of God's creation, and I use expressive brushstrokes and playful colors to evoke a sense of awe and wonder of His creation, reflecting the beauty, detail, and intention found in the world He made. I want my work to feel like a breath of fresh air, an ounce of hope and a pop of color in a world that can feel so beige.
I have always loved to create, and my mom can tell you stories of me "painting" on the walls of our house with conditioner when I was a little girl. I believe that childhood is such a special time for creativity, and I have been able to experience it firsthand by teaching elementary school, preschool, and art to all ages. The spark, confidence, and uninhibited mark-making of children continue to inspire me, making teaching an essential part of my creative practice.
Through both my painting and teaching, my hope is to create space for others to slow down, notice beauty, and reconnect with their own creativity. I believe creativity is something we’re all given, and when we nurture it through the help of Christ and community, it can bring joy, confidence, and a deeper sense of wonder that leads us closer to the Creator of it all.
